They Rebelled presents a dilemma facing members of the Jewish Council in a ghetto: Do they obey the Nazi command and round up people for selection, or do they rebel. They decide to rebel and fighting ensues. The rebels attack Nazis and free Jews, but many die. Finally the Nazi commander is killed. At the end of the play, soldiers are remembered in the style of an obituary.
