The play tells the story of Gisi Fleischmann, who was one of the few female Jewish leaders during World War II. Mrs. Fleischmann was leader of the underground Bratislava Working Group, which worked to prevent the mass deportation of Jews to concentration camps. She was arrested by the SS in 1944 and deported to Auschwitz, where she was murdered on arrival.
