Pavane for a Pile of Junk, a two-act play with music that uses the central symbol of the pavane, a slow stately dance, takes place over the first two days after the Nazis invade Poland and begin World War II. Set in a middle class neighborhood of Frankfurt, the play presents the impact of the start of the war on the occupants of a large loft.
