Last Witnesses [Die Letzten Zeugen]
A spoken word theater piece representing the last survivors and witnesses of the Holocaust. Seven survivors share their experiences and stories of persecution and betrayal. Young actors read their testimonies while images of the Holocaust are projected on a screen behind them. The survivors themselves also appear on stage, seated behind a scrim, including the author’s mother Schoschana Rabinovici. At the end of the performance, the audience is invited to meet and speak with the survivors as way to educate younger generations.
Rescuers Speaking
Drawn from personal testimonies, Rescuers Speaking is a powerful interweaving of memories of both rescuers and rescued from a wide range of countries. It has the advantages of needing no props or elaborate staging, leaving bare the words of the participants during this particularly traumatic period of twentieth century history.
The Interview
A Holocaust survivor meets her interviewer—the child of other survivors—in preparation for her eyewitness testimony for an archival video project. Revisiting old memories, a mother and a daughter find new ways to forgive and be forgiven.
